From The Studio - February

Dear friends and collectors,

Albeit a short month, February is shaping up to be an exciting and busy time with loads to share.

I am very grateful for the lengthening days and return of the sun, which affords me the opportunity to take advantage of painting in the natural light, which I prefer. And more daylight hours for painting and riding!

Last week, I enjoyed teaching for a full house during my day-long oil painting workshop at Artisans in Santa Fe. I find teaching helps broaden my world a bit, which I appreciate. Thank you, students!

I am thrilled and honored to be showing with esteemed colleagues and alongside renowned artist Maynard Dixon at the “Masters of Drawing” exhibition at Medicine Man Gallery | Maynard Dixon Museum. My paintings will also be exhibited during my special “Guadalupe Street Feature” at Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe, and I am back at the Autry Museum this year with a painting for their small works show. Scroll down for more details, and a short video discussing my work!

I will also be adding a few more important venues as an invited artist, which I will share in the upcoming months. So stay tuned, and thank you for being along for the journey!

Warmly,
Kathryn Stedham

Upcoming Shows

Guadalupe Street Feature, Blue Rain Gallery

February 14-28th

I am excited to introduce this selection of paintings, a “Reinventing of Reality” as so aptly named in an article by Sarah Gianelli in this month’s Western Art Collector Magazine.  A blending of classic and newer themes, in my own quest to share a bit of my world.

Masters of Drawing, Invitational Exhibition

Medicine Man Gallery, Tucson, AZ

February 15th-March 1st, 2025

Open reception February 15th, 4:30-6:30 pm (Main Gallery and Museum)

Drawing is my first love, and I don’t often get a chance to share this side of my artistic journey. So, when Mark Sublette invited me to create some pieces for the show, I was overjoyed as I haven’t exhibited a drawing in well over thirty-plus years. I have two drawings, and a painting based on one of the drawings in the show. Click the image or button below to preview all three images. Both drawings are charcoal on buff paper. All will be exhibited through Mar. 1st and are available through Medicine Man Gallery. A rare opportunity to view and perhaps even own one of my original drawings. Enjoy!
